A Green Path for Lebanon : Paris Roundtable Highlights Agroecology’s Role
Paris, France – June 6, 2025.
Fair Trade Lebanon hosted a public roundtable titled “A Green Path for Lebanon?” at the Académie du Climat in Paris. The event brought together experts, practitioners, and partners to discuss the future of agroecology in Lebanon.
What We Covered
Lebanon is facing severe droughts, shrinking water supplies, and increasing economic strain. Over the course of three hours, a distinguished panel shared insights on how agroecology can offer practical, long-term solutions.
Moderated by Julie Stoll of Commerce Équitable France, the roundtable featured insightful contributions from agrometeorologist Serge Zaka, USJ’s Jocelyne Adjizian Gérard, IRD’s Laurent Drapeau, UL’s Dalida Darazy, and others.
Together, they explored Lebanon’s urgent agricultural challenges and the role of agroecology in restoring dignity, food sovereignty, and environmental balance. The voices of Lebanese farmers, recorded on the ground, brought powerful testimony to the real impacts of climate change on rural life.
The event closed with a tasting of “Terroirs du Liban” products, offering guests a flavorful reminder of the farmers and cooperatives who keep local traditions alive. The evening was a moment of solidarity and action for a more resilient food system in Lebanon.
