Sanadkoun: Looking back on a journey of solidarity and impact

Mothers, farmers, cooperative members, health professionals, school representatives and local partners rarely sit around the same table. At the closing of Sanadkoun/Soha w Hana, they did, to look back on a year of work across South Lebanon, the Bekaa and Baalbek-Hermel, and to see how food security, health and livelihoods connect.

A year of support, in numbers

  • 3,591 pregnant and breastfeeding women and young children accompanied, through 6,000 nutrition and health follow-ups
  • 3,150 food parcels, 48,230 meals and 1,650 food vouchers distributed
  • 77,144 breakfasts provided to students and displaced people, and 686 students reached by nutrition awareness activities
  • 200 farmers and four cooperatives supported, including with solar solutions

A cooperative at the center of the story

The closing took place at Najmet El Soboh Cooperative, and the choice was fitting. During the crisis, its members prepared meals for displaced families, creating work for women in the cooperative and orders for local farmers.

One meal, many points of impact: the person who eats it, the farmer who grew the ingredients, the women who cooked it. For Fair Trade Lebanon, this is what matters: not only what reaches people, but the local production, livelihoods and relationships behind it.

Many partners, one project

SANADKOUN was funded by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs and carried out by Fair Trade Lebanon and La Guilde, with NABAA, Farah Social Foundation, NUSANED and the Lebanese Order of Midwives. The event welcomed the French delegation alongside these partners, and gave space to beneficiary testimonies, partner reflections and a film revisiting the project and the people behind it.

What stays with us

Beyond the final activity, what remains is the relationships built, the knowledge exchanged, the capacities strengthened and the connections between local actors that will continue beyond the project. In one room, the closing showed how food, health, livelihoods and local action are never as separate as they seem.
