First-Hand Insights: ARADINA Engages Lebanon’s Agricultural Communities

Fair Trade Lebanon, with the Agence Française de Développement, CIHEAM Montpellier, and Action Contre La Faim, recently visited agricultural communities in the Bekaa and Akkar as part of ARADINA project.

The aim of these visits was simple but essential: to listen to farmers, cooperatives, and local institutions and understand their needs to support their agroecological transition.

In the Bekaa, the team shared plans for almond nurseries and composting units, while gathering feedback from farmers and cooperatives to ensure initiatives are practical and responsive. While in Akkar, the focus shifted to medicinal plant nurseries and strategies to help farmers access markets. Alongside these discussions, Fair Trade Lebanon conducted workshops on good agricultural practices, engaging communities directly in shaping sustainable solutions.

These visits underscore the importance of being on the ground. By witnessing challenges firsthand and engaging with local actors, ARADINA can design solutions that effectively link producers, SMEs, and consumers.

Launched in 2025, ARADINA supports the agroecological transition in Lebanon, improving soil health, water management, and biodiversity, while empowering farmers and communities to build sustainable livelihoods.
