SORT IT!

SORT IT! is a three-month project implemented in six shelters hosting displaced families across the Bekaa and South Lebanon, with support from Kindernothilfe (KNH). It combines child-focused environmental awareness and recreational activities with practical improvements to shelter-level waste management.

Through interactive, age-appropriate workshops, children learn about waste sorting, waste triage and basic composting. Selected shelters also receive sorting bins and composting units or kits, alongside guidance for shelter focal points and caregivers on their safe use and maintenance.

By connecting environmental learning with practical action, SORT IT! supports better daily practices and contributes to cleaner, safer and better-managed shelter environments.
